Nehemiah
chapter 3 reminds us of the song 'I need you to survive' by Hezekiah Walker.
From previous studies we have learnt that Nehemiah grabbed hold of the vision
God gave him and he ran with it, regardless of what anyone said-he possessed
unique zeal and fervour for the new purpose and direction God was revealing to
him.
God
gave him the vision, but in order to carry it out it needed the help of other
people. Nehemiah knew that he couldn't do it alone; he had wisdom enough to
know that rebuilding this wall didn't just mean him doing it brick by brick! He
needed the help of his people. How many times do we do it alone-and
why???Pride, reluctance to involve people, secrecy, embarrassment...God called
us into a BODY of Christ, where we...You...are just one part.
1 Corinthians 12.26-27
'So that there should be no division or discord or lack of adaptation (of the parts of the body to each other), but the members all alike should have a mutual interest in and care for one another. And if one member suffers, all the parts (share) the suffering; if one member is honored, all the members (share in) the enjoyment of it. Now you (collectively) are Christs body and individually you are members of t, each part severally and distinct (each with his won place and function)'.
Next time God lays something on your heart and it needs urgent prayer, don't deal with it on your own, If you are part of a church, please speak to your pastor or leader. If you are not part of a church please join one, but in the meantime speak to someone you know can give you Godly advice. Godly is the key word.
The whole of Nehemiah 3 describes the beauty of unity. When we work together as a team, we can achieve great things and do exploits by the grace of God.
Different houses/families helped each other, supported each other, and encouraged each other in the Lord. Let us be like these people of God, instead of discouraging and passing the blame, instead of gossiping and pulling people down. Have a positive mindset towards all...Philippians 2.3-4.
If unbelievers can be united in things not of God, why is it so difficult for us who love the same God to work together for this same King of Kings.
If you haven't done so, please do so now. Speak to your neighbour, encourage them in the Lord, and pray with your fellow brethren, your family.
Somebody somewhere needs you!
